Am Ende schaltete ich den Fernseher aus, schenkte mir ein Wasserglas halb voll mit Aquavit und suchte mir eine CD heraus. Duke Ellingtons Blanton-Webster Band mit Aufnahmen von 1940 – 42, darunter auch »Jump for Joy«. Die Töne legten sich wie Sahne um mein Trommelfell, ohne dass ich einen besonderen Drang verspürte, selbst einen Sprung zu machen. Wir kamen der Wahrheit näher, als bald darauf die Frage gestellt wurde: »What Good Would It Do?«
